hi all,

another quick one coming your way… a couple advice questions and a little year end wrap-up. please ignore any typos, this is a low-budget operation! also, even though there’s no long essay today, it’s a pretty long newsletter, so you may enjoy reading it more in the Substack app (it currently says “post too long for email,” but YMMV!)

if you’d like to support my writing because this newsletter means something to you or because you understand it takes a lot of time and effort to put it together — or because you want to keep my feet to the fire re: a regular publishing schedule (still working on this one…) — you can do that below. it means more to me than you know.

relatedly, all posts are paywalled a few weeks after publishing, so I strongly recommend subscribing to make sure they’re in your inbox and you don’t miss them when they’re free/public!

Thanks for reading mindy’s substack! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

hope you all get some time off work and to be merry/enjoy time with the people who matter to you. I am personally looking forward to our annual Chrismukkah party, making a gingerbread house, and watching our son open presents. (I also really hope my husband makes us a fort!!!!!!)

love,

your friend Mindy

most of my serious and reflective year end processing happens around Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. why would I care about the Gregorian calendar??? but it’s been fun to read other people’s wrap-ups/end of year thoughts/lists (really enjoyed this, this, this, and this) so I thought I’d do something similar here.

my list is a mix of things I’ve done, things I’ve learned, and things that have improved my life. a few of these things are purchase-able, obviously, but TO BE CLEAR I do not do affiliate links (don’t have enough subscribers, wouldn’t even know how) so the recommendations are genuine (although it’s mostly just feelings/learnings/intangible things!)
